Job Description:

Prepare and maintain parole files, while gathering information to summarize a direct rating report to the Parole Board members. Criminal Investigators also meet with members of the general public who come to ask questions about an offender’s parole case or to check on an offender's parole status. The Parole Board has guidelines to determine whether offenders can be safely released on parole. The criminal investigator’s summary includes: (1) A summary of Relevant Correspondence (2) Materials from Pre-Parole Investigation (3) The Parole Review Summary from the Georgia Department of Corrections (4) Work Materials from the Grid System ie the Crime Severity Level, Grid Sheet and the Recommended Months to Serve (4) Crime Details that the Parole Board may consider Important. 

Law enforcement officials shall at all times fulfill  the duty imposed upon them by law, by serving the community and by protecting all persons against illegal acts, consistent with the high degree of responsibility required by their profession. 

They serve as Duty Officer after hours and on weekends, ensuring continuous coverage for emergency situations, which includes assessing problem situations with appropriate Department of Community Supervision officers and determining proper action and authorizing appropriate action upon receipt of information regarding parolee arrests.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of related experience; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and four (4) years of experience in law enforcement or related field; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Criminal Investigator 2 (PSP091) or position equivalent.--Note: Some positions may require the incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
